Although players are the an important element, a club could not function without the behind the scenes efforts of its officials. Fernhurst has been very fortunate in having many who have performed valuable support roles over the years, none more so than Gerald Puttick who has been Secretary since 1962 and who first held office on the General Committee in 1951. He was honoured by the FA in 2006 for his 50 years of service to football in Sussex. The club also honoured him with a dinner attended by players from all five decades. Club Chairman, Roger Mountain also honoured Gerald by making him Club President.
