Fernhurst Sports

Fernhurst Sports FC run two adult teams in the Covers West Sussex League, playing on Saturday afternoons (3pm kick-off during the Summer and Spring, and 2pm during the Winter months).

The first team were relegated to Division 4 at the end of the 2005-06 season, and whilst they put up a good performance during the 2006-07 season, they failed to achieve promotion. The second team are a league below, Division 5, having been relegated during 2004-05. Inconsistent performances left the second team at the bottom of the league in 2006-07, but there is an air of great optimism within the club for the forthcoming season.

In the past, Fernhurst Sports FC has had an active youth policy, which declined during the last few years. Committee member, Thom Poole, has started the youth team up, with the help of coach Phil Stafford and a number of parents locally, and plan to build a team to start playing in the league during the 2007-8 season.

At the other end of the age spectrum, Thom has also encourage Club Manager, Trevor Ford, to create a Veterans team, as a large number of ex-players are still keen on playing and keeping fit, and have enjoyed their association with the club. In the 2007-8 season the Veterans will start a series of friendly matches, with a view to joining a league in future seasons.

Further afield, a dependent on the redevelopment of the recreation ground, Fernhurst Sports would also like to encourage a ladies team to join the active leagues in Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire.
